Tochato Coins, Explained

Tochato is free to start. Coins are what you use for new matches once the free ones are gone, and for staying in a call after its free time. Here is where they go, what you see in a call before they are used, and how to make them last.

What are coins for on Tochato?

Mostly two things: new matches after your free matches are used, and continuing a call past its free time. A notice appears in the call before coins start to be used.

What are coins?

Coins are the paid balance on Tochato. You buy them on the site with real money, they sit in your balance, and they go down as you use the parts of the site that run on them. They work only on tochato.cam, have no cash value and cannot be passed to another person.

Think of them the way you would think of credit on a transit card. You load some, it goes down as you travel, and you decide whether and when to load more. Buying is a step you take yourself at a checkout; spending what you already hold happens as you chat, without a fresh question each time.

What are coins spent on?

Mainly two things, and the second is the one people overlook. The first is starting a match once your free matches are used: each new match takes one free match while you have them, and coins after that.

The second is time. A match begins with free time. If the two of you keep talking past it, the call carries on and is paid for in coins according to how long it lasts. A notice appears in the call before that happens, so the change is announced on screen while you are talking.

We do not print prices, coin packs or the length of the free time on this page. They are set inside the product and they change, and a stale figure is worse than none. The current ones are those you see on the site itself.

What happens in a call when the free time ends?

A notice shows up in the call shortly beforehand. That is your cue to decide. If the conversation is worth continuing and you hold coins, you simply keep talking and the call goes on, now on coins. If you would rather not spend any, say goodbye and end the chat before the free time is over.

If your coins run low while the call is on coins, the site prompts you to top up, and the call ends when there is nothing left to cover it. Nothing about the other person changes at that point: if you followed them, they are still in your list.

So a long, good conversation and a string of short ones cost in different ways. Short chats use up matches. A long one uses up time. Knowing which kind of evening you are having tells you where your coins will go.

Follow someone before the free time runs out if you think you will want to find them again. The follow keeps them in your list after the call is over.

Do you have to buy coins to use Tochato?

No. You can arrive as a guest, look through who is online and use your free matches without buying anything. New visitors are given free matches, and the Reward Center at the top of the match screen gives out more several times a day. The page on free chat rooms covers that side in full, table included.

Coins are for people who want more than that: more new faces in one sitting, or a conversation that carries on after its free time. It is a real choice in both directions, and the site keeps working if you decline.

How do you make coins last?

By watching the two places they go. These habits stretch a balance without making the evening worse.

  • Watch for the notice in a call. It is the moment a conversation starts to cost coins. Decide then, on purpose, instead of noticing your balance afterwards.
  • End calls you have finished. A call that is left open while you look at something else is still a call. When the talk is over, close it.
  • Claim rewards before you spend. Open the Reward Center whenever you are on the match screen and use free matches first.
  • Give each match a fair moment. Leaving after a few seconds spends a match for nothing. Stay long enough to know.
  • Follow people you like. You can then find a person from your list instead of matching again and again in the hope of meeting them twice.

What should you check before you pay?

Buying happens on the site, through a checkout run by a payment provider. Before you confirm, check three things: the number of coins, the price, and that the address bar still shows tochato.cam. A purchase is something you start and finish yourself; nobody in a chat can do it for you or needs your help to do it.

If you are a guest, consider signing in before you buy. A guest session lives in one browser, and coins attached to it may be lost if that browser's data is cleared. And never buy coins because another person asked you to, or send coins or money to anyone you met in a chat. The guide to safe chat rooms explains why. The formal terms for purchases are in the terms of service.

What if a purchase goes wrong?

If you paid and the coins did not appear, reload the site first. If they are still missing, write to support with the date, the amount, the payment method and the receipt from the payment provider. The contact page has the address and the full list of what to include. For where the match screen and the call fit into a visit, see how Tochato works.

FAQ

Coin questions

What are Tochato coins?

Coins are the paid balance on Tochato. They are bought on the site and used mainly for new matches after the free ones, and for staying in a call past its free time. They work only on tochato.cam.

Do I need coins to chat?

Not to begin. New visitors get free matches, and the Reward Center gives out more several times a day. Coins come into it when you want more matches than that, or want a call to continue after its free time.

Does a long call use more coins than a short one?

Yes, once it is past its free time. From that point the call is paid for in coins according to how long it goes on, so a long conversation uses more than a brief one.

Will I know before a call starts using coins?

Yes. A notice appears in the call before the free time ends. If you do not want to use coins, end the chat at that point.

What happens to a call when my coins run out?

The site prompts you to top up, and the call ends when there are no coins left to cover it. People you followed stay in your list.

What if a payment didn't go through?

Reload the site and check again. If you were charged and no coins arrived, email support with the date, amount, payment method and receipt so the purchase can be traced.

Can I give my coins to someone else?

No. Coins cannot be transferred to another person, and they have no cash value. Be wary of anyone in a chat who asks you to buy coins for them.

Should I sign in before buying coins?

It is a good idea. A guest session belongs to one browser, so coins bought as a guest may be lost if that browser's data is cleared. Signing in ties them to you.
